London Gatwick Airport Terminals

London Gatwick has 2 terminals which operate around the airports single runway.

The South Terminal is Gatwick airport's original terminal that opened in 1958, the check-in and arrivals departments are both located on the second floor.

The North Terminal was opened in 1988 in order to deal with the increasing volume of traffic flowing through the airport. The terminal is based upon a floor based structure with arrivals on the ground floor, a shopping mall on the first floor and check-in desks on the second floor.

Each terminal has a plethora of shopping and restaurant facilities, both pre-security and beyond the security checks where all shops are free of local purchase taxes for travellers with destinations beyond the European Union. Arriving passengers can also buy items and will find the usual services including car hire and hotels.
