London Gatwick Airport South Terminal
Flights that arrive and depart from London Gatwick Airport use 2 terminals(North and South) which operate around a single runway.
The South Terminal is Gatwick airport's original terminal that opened in 1958, the check-in and arrivals departments are both located on the second floor. Adjacent to the South Terminal is the modern and comfortable Hilton Hotel where you should get an excellent deal on parking if you stay for a night prior to your flight.
South Terminal Facilities
Gatwick Airport South Terminal is conveniently situated above the rail station which has services to both the West End(London Victoria Station) and the City(London Bridge). The terminal serves many charter airlines and can get very crowded and uncomfortable. Passengers are advised to get checked in and through security as soon as possible to reach the relative calm of the departure lounge.
The departure lounge is well served with both retail outlets(Cotton Traders, Boots, WH Smiths, etc) and refreshments(Pizza Express, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc). Although relatively compact it has two floors and most passengers should find something to spend time on.
